Visit Storrs Center a Mid-Winter Respite

If you haven’t yet perused the shops and restaurants at Storrs Center-what are you waiting for?

This weekend was an excellent time to venture out to visit Storrs Center. Longing for some fresh air and a shoveled path we ventured out to Storrs Center. Traffic was light, the roads were in good condition (great job Mansfield Public Works). There were some students milling about trudging through the snow as UConn had plowed the streets but had yet to get to the sidewalks. Parking is available in the back near Storrs Automotive or in the garage and walking the center is easy. Parking is free for 2 hours.

We visited Moe’s Southwest Grill and ordered the Wrong Doug Stack. You can get pork, chicken, beef or tofu, rice, beans, cheese and anything else you want on it. They wrap it up, grill it, wrap it up in foil and serve it with free chips and salsa. They offer soda, water and three kinds of iced tea.

FroyoWorld Frozen Yogurt was also busy. They offer all kinds of frozen yogurt (Girl Scout thin mint was good). You choose your own cup, dispense the yogurt yourself thought their machines and choose your own topping, fruit, candy, waffle pieces, chocolate chips, too many to list. The interior is whimsical, colorful and nicely lay out.

Dog Lane Cafe was very busy. It appeared that most of the tables were in use with customers either having lunch or lingering over coffee and relaxing. Dog Lane has a very nice vibe, is nicely designed and is an excellent venue for sitting and relaxing and enjoying some good quality menu items.

Mooyah’s Burgers Fries and Shakes counter was teeming with people ordering their specially made burgers, burgers and shakes. We had already had our fill and will try a Mooyah’s burger in our next trip.

Sweet Emotions Candy had several customers, some students and parents with children. One child approached a staff member to personally thank him for selling Harry Potter Chocolate Frogs. There is a supply of valentine specialties, retro packaged candies, specially made chocolates and if you love jelly beans, this is the place for you.
